A broker and financial advisor in Victoria, Texas, Steven Orr has operated his own investment firm since 1994. Aside from his work as a broker with Orr Financial Group, he has taught classes on financial strategies at multiple regional colleges and universities. Steven Orr also supports the ministry for the deaf initiatives of Bum Phillips Charities.
In addition to welcoming the Heart Sign ministry for the deaf for two retreats, the Bum Phillips Retreat Center in Goliad, Texas, has hosted a range of other events at. This property encompasses 200 acres of quiet and picturesque land, supporting the perfect environment for pastoral respite and spiritual contemplation. Able to accommodate up to 50 people, the Retreat Center caters specifically to active ministries, church gatherings, marriage retreats, and other meetings, conferences, and workshops.
Overnight accommodations at the Bum Phillips Retreat Center include the two-bedroom Reno Cabin and Betsy Johnson Cabin. Guests can also stay in the Bum’s Bunkhouse at the center of the grounds. All accommodations feature air conditioning and free wireless Internet.
Bum Phillips Charities
As a broker and advisor for more than three decades, Steven Orr serves as president and owner of the Orr Financial Group located in Victoria, Texas. A strong proponent of helping the community, broker Steven Orr contributes to the Bum Phillips Charities.
Created by Bum and Debbie Phillips in 2010, the Bum Phillips Charities is a non-profit organization that supports Christian ministries. Although Bum Phillips passed away in 2013 at the age of 90, the charity continues with the help of his wife Debbie. Before he passed, the couple donated acreage from their Goliad, Texas, ranch to establish the Bum Phillips Retreat Center. This center hosts year-round activities and events, including pastoral gatherings and widow retreats.
One of these events is Bum’s Bunch Supper, which took place on January 28, 2017, at the Juniper House at the retreat center. Attendees joined Debbie Phillips and the family for supper, which included a wide range of food. Attendees enjoyed brisket, beans, homemade tortillas, a salad bar, and banana pudding, which was Bum’s favorite dessert. In order to attend the gathering, attendees were asked to make a $50 contribution to the charity.
